Malmaison Hotel

. . . .

Malmaison Oxford is quirky and original, with real character and style. Never before in the UK has a prison been converted to a luxury hotel. Malmaison Oxford is an exciting new 94-room hotel that opened in mid November 2005. Formerly Oxford Prison, the building has undergone extensive renovation and if you are looking for a small venue for meetings and conferences in Oxford with a real difference then look no further than the Malmaison Oxford Prison Hotel. The prison itself is a Grade I listed building and is largely unaltered; the cells, basement and many of the fixtures and fittings have been preserved, resulting in a hotel with a unique, if somewhat eccentric character.

Conference desk enquiries

With all the Malmaison trademarks of chic, style and versatility the purpose-designed meeting rooms come equipped with all the facilities and state of the art equipment required to make your event one to remember, and with Malmaison’s wealth of experience in events co-ordination to fall back on, your meeting or conference will go off without a hitch.

Malmaison’s hard-earned reputation has been won as much by its food and drink as for its great bedrooms, and Malmaison Oxford is no different. The Brasserie and Bar are set out in the basement, and while the main room is spacious and open, there is provision of several smaller, intimate rooms, ideal for private dining. Gruel and stale bread are not on the menu!

There are 94 rooms at Malmaison Oxford, with a choice of room styles. Many of the rooms are converted prison cells, with two cells per room having been knocked into one, and a third cell for the bathroom. Other rooms are more conventional in layout, with the deluxe rooms and suites set out in the former Governor’s House. While as much of the prison’s original fittings and layout have been preserved, any worries about dank and dingy rooms without creature comforts are unfounded. Every effort has been made to ensure the rooms are light and airy, and Malmaison’s trademark stylish décor and comfortable furnishings, along with truly remarkable bathrooms, make this one of Oxford’s most luxurious contemporary hotels.
